What We Do

LYCS Development Education provides the following services.

Training for Community Workers

We provide free thematic training events for community workers and those who work with adults in the community sector. At the moment, and until early March, we will mainly be focusing on the issues of waste, globalisation and inequality and food issues.

Courses and Events for residents and activists in the north east inner city of Dublin

We run development education courses and workshops in the area locally to LYCS, the north east inner city of Dublin. Currently in the pipeline is a 6 week ‘Soup Kitchen’ course which will  empower participants in the area of health, food and active global citizenship skills. This will be held in September and will repeat in January.

An accredited QQI Level 4 course in Local and Global Development will also be run in Autumn 2017, for local residents and community workers.

Accredited QQI Level 6 Training

Our popular QQI Level 6 training in Global Development will take place between January and March 2018.

Bespoke Training

Subject to staff availability we can run training for trainer workshops on development education issues on request for organisations who can gather a group of minimum 12 relevant community workers/trainers. Please contact us to discuss further.

Resources

We provide resources and support for trainers seeking to add a global perspective to their community development or education work in Ireland, including a revised trainers manual ‘Connecting Communities’ (downloadable here on this site).
